Hello, everyone! If you're seeing this, it means you signed up for my newsletter at some point in time. Don't worry, I'm not going to flood your inbox. I do like to give you guys regular updates, though. Let's get started!
What Am I Working On?

Spirits of Salt and Sea (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 2): Draft three is finished! I just sent this one off to Phill. Really happy with how it turned out.
Dreams of a Dead God (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 3): I have a little less than 20,000 words left to write on this one. Trying to figure out how I want all the pieces to come together, which has involved a bit of backtracking. I think I’m getting close, though.
Amhrán Gan Choinne: Still working on this one very slowly. My mind has been swirling with new ideas recently, so I may try to incorporate them into this book. We’ll see.
Fun With Friends (Phillip Drayer Duncan’s Blade Mage book 8): Blade Mage fans will be happy to know I’ve finished editing this book and sent it back to Phill.
Secret Book: I won’t say much about this one yet since it hasn’t been publicly announced. For now, I’ll say I’m working on something new and it’s all very exciting.
What Have I Been Reading?
I just finished A Forest, Darkly by A.G. Slatter, and let me just say, if you haven’t read any of her Sourdough novels yet, you should remedy that immediately.
They’re dark fairy tale-infused novels set in her own dark fantasy world. While she doesn’t retell any specific fairy tales, the world is brimming with them, and every novel she’s set there has been wonderful.
I’ve written about them before, but here’s the list of titles for those wanting more:
All the Murmuring Bones
The Path of Thorns
The Briar Book of the Dead
The Crimson Road
A Forest, Darkly
There’s also a novella and several short stories, and I just found out the short stories will be gathered in a single volume and released this summer.

Since finishing A Forest, Darkly, I’ve been reading T. Kingfisher’s What Stalks the Deep, the third in her Sworn Soldier series.
This has been another fun, creepy read. The first book in the series was a sort of retelling of “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allen Poe, but I believe the second two are completely original. If you like dark, creepy things, they’re awesome.
What Have I Been Watching?

Phill and I have finally reached the final season of Peaky Blinders. This show has been a fun rollercoaster, and I’m curious to see how they’ll wrap it up.
Once we finish the final season we’ll watch the movie, which just came out last month.
I’ve slowly been making my way through Frieren, which I think I’ve mentioned here before. This is a manga and anime series exploring themes of loss and grief from the point of view of an elf who outlives her companions after they save the world. It’s been lovely and moving so far.

What Have I Been Playing?
I’m still switching between LotRO and My Time at Sandrock.

A Silmarillion reference! 😍
This game has been really fun so far, as I knew it would be. The characters are funny and interesting, the plot and world are intriguing, and the gameplay/crafting is excellent. I also had a really funny glitch that had me cackling for a while. I’m excited to make more progress in it and unlock more of the world.

This guy is ridiculous. 😂

What Have I Been Listening To?
I was listening to a classical playlist while writing a week or two ago and came across Adagio in G Minor “Albinoni’s Adagio” by composer Remo Giazotto, shared below in a piano arrangement followed by a string arrangement.
While I listen to classical music, I hadn’t come across this one in particular. At least, not in this format. I did, however, recognize it as part of another song: “Anytime, Anywhere” by Sarah Brightman, one of my favorite artists of all time.
April Events

We’ve been looking at various events and have started signing up for a few. Just found out we’ve been accepted for one on April 18: Moth Market in Joplin, MO. While I enjoy weekends at home working on books, I’m looking forward to getting out to events again. We’ve never been vendors at this event, so I’m excited to see how we do.
Music Stuff
I’ve been more active over on my YouTube channel and am trying to share at least one song a month. March’s song was “Urar” by Chima, which was used as the opening song for the anime of Hakumei and Mikochi.
Language Corner
In this section I like to share words from languages I’m learning. This month I’ve chosen more Irish words.

Patreon, Ko-fi, & Substack

I post once a week on Patreon about all sorts of things: writing, books I’m reading, things going on in life. Once a month I also share sneak peeks of whatever book I’m working on. It would mean the world to me if you considered joining.

I am also on Ko-fi, which is sort of like Patreon, but with one key difference: you’re not locked into a subscription. Ko-fi allows patrons to donate however often they’d like to creators they follow. No subscriptions if you don’t want them, no commitments, and you have control over when and how you donate. At this point my Ko-fi page exists solely to allow one-off donations.

I decided to try Substack, since I’ve seen so many people join it recently. I’m curious to see if I like it, if it’s any better than some of the other platforms out there, or if maybe it will be worthwhile long-term. Time will tell.
