Hello, everyone! If you're seeing this, it means you signed up for my newsletter at some point in time. Don't worry, I'm not going to flood your inbox. I do like to give you guys regular updates, though. Let's get started!

What Am I Working On?

The Bed and Breakfast Between Worlds: This one is out on submission! Woohoo! I’ve got a really good feeling about this one and am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that someone out there feels the same way.

The Blackbriar Coven (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 1): I’ve been working on formatting and doing market research for this one and my cover artist is getting started on the cover. So long as I stay on track with the rest of the books in the series, this one should be out later this year.

Spirits of Salt and Sea (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 2): Draft two is done! I’m setting it aside for a couple weeks and will come back to it for draft three probably around the middle of the month.

Dreams of a Dead God (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 3): Mari book three is under way! I’m really excited about this one and have a lot of creepy things planned for it.

Amhrán Gan Choinne: Still working on this one very slowly.

Fun With Friends (Phillip Drayer Duncan’s Blade Mage book 8): I’m still editing this book and expect to have it done in the next couple of weeks.

What Have I Been Reading?

I just finished The Elsewhere Express by Samantha Sotto Yambao. This one wasn’t what I expected. I did like it, but it didn’t quite live up to what I imagined when I read the premise.

That’s not to say it was bad. Just different. I'm still processing how I feel about it. There were some neat twists at the end, which I’m always a fan of.

Next up is A Dark and Secret Magic by Wallis Kinney. The premise of this one sounds fun, and I can hardly wait to dive in.

“A warm, spellbinding tale about a witch and the secrets her coven has been keeping from her, with echoes of the classic Hades and Persephone story, in the tradition of Practical Magic and Witch of Wild Things.

“A dark and secret magic is a celebration of the Halloween season and a love letter to anyone who drinks pumpkin spice in August and carries the spirit of a witch inside their heart all year long.”

What Have I Been Watching?

Phill and I are now in the third season of Peaky Blinders. This show has been interesting, and I’m curious to see where they’ll go with the remaining seasons, as well as the movie, which is releasing this month.

“Peaky Blinders is a British historical crime drama television series created by Steven Knight. Set in Birmingham, it follows the exploits of the Peaky Blinders crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War. The fictional gang is loosely based on a real urban youth gang active in the city from the 1880s to the 1920s.”

What Have I Been Playing?

I’m still playing LotRO, but sometimes I need a game I can play while sitting in bed. For that, I’ve started My Time at Sandrock.

This game is the sequel to My Time at Portia, which I played obsessively. The games are more cozy-focused than anything else, with lots of crafting/building and befriending the people in your town. That said, unlike some cozy games, there’s a main storyline that carries you through to the end, as well as some fighting and a few dungeon-like places. I’m eager to get further along and unlock more of the story.

What Have I Been Listening To?

For this month, I’m sharing more South for Winter.

I’ve really come to love this band, and this song from their second album has become a favorite.

Same song, but with more strings.

March Events

We actually don’t have anything this month. I’m kind of looking forward to staying home and focusing on writing, but we’re also keeping an eye out for local events where we can sell our books. We’ll see.

Music Stuff

I’ve been more active over on my YouTube channel and am trying to share at least one song a month. February’s song was “Amhrán na Farraige” which was originally sung by the amazing Lisa Hannigan for the Cartoon Saloon movie Song of the Sea.

Language Corner

In this section I like to share words from languages I’m learning. This month I’ve chosen more Irish words.

Patreon, Ko-fi, & Substack

I post once a week on Patreon about all sorts of things: writing, books I’m reading, things going on in life. Once a month I also share sneak peeks of whatever book I’m working on. It would mean the world to me if you considered joining.

I am also on Ko-fi, which is sort of like Patreon, but with one key difference: you’re not locked into a subscription. Ko-fi allows patrons to donate however often they’d like to creators they follow. No subscriptions if you don’t want them, no commitments, and you have control over when and how you donate. At this point my Ko-fi page exists solely to allow one-off donations.

I decided to try Substack, since I’ve seen so many people join it recently. I’m curious to see if I like it, if it’s any better than some of the other platforms out there, or if maybe it will be worthwhile long-term. Time will tell.

Get in Touch

I'm always happy to answer questions about my books, about writing in general, or whatever else strikes your fancy. Send me a message!
