What Am I Working On?

Dreams of a Dead God (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 3): It’s done at last! I’ve finally finished the first draft and gave myself a relaxing few days off (I mean, it was the weekend, but it still counts). This one took a little longer than I anticipated, but I’m pleased with the way everything came together.
Spirits of Salt and Sea (The Grey Witch Chronicles book 2): With book 3 written, I’m now turning my attention back to book 2 and will focus on going through my editor’s comments, then finishing up with a read-aloud draft. With any luck I’ll have both drafts done this month.
Secret Book: I really need to spend some time on this book this month. I tend to push it to the back burner, but my goal for this month is to work on it every time the ball’s in my court (like it is right now).
Amhrán Gan Choinne (not the actual title): With Dreams of a Dead God finished for the moment, I’m hoping to spend a little more time in this world. I had a really fun idea for it last month and I’m excited to implement it.
What Have I Been Reading?
I’m still working my way through Theodora Goss’s Letters from an Imaginary Country.
There have been some interesting stories so far, some I’ve encountered before in other collections and some that are brand new to this one.
I’ve started Ombria in Shadow by Patricia A. McKillip again. This will be the third time I’ve read it, although I’m doing it a little differently this time.
This is one of my favorite McKillip books, and I wanted to study it more from an author standpoint than as a reader.
What Have I Been Watching?
Phill wanted to watch Highlander (I had never seen it), so we did that recently. I can’t say I was a fan, but he’s excited about the remake, so we gave it a go. The remake will have a few actors I like in it, so I’m curious to see how it turns out.
This was the most ridiculous Sherlock Holmes adaptation I’ve ever seen, though I think that’s a given with these two. It was good for a laugh, at least.
Phill was also in the mood to watch The Last Samurai, which I had never seen before. I’ve loved Japanese culture since I was a kid, and this movie filled that well a bit (yes, I cried at the end. I dare you not to.) But it also put me in the mood to watch another favorite, one I haven’t seen in several years…
I remember seeing Memoirs of a Geisha in theater and loving it. I read the book not long after (and I’m long overdue for a re-read.) Also, Ken Watanabe is in both movies.
What Have I Been Playing?
I’m still playing My Time at Sandrock, although I think I’m creeping up on the end.
Winter flowers
I thought I might finish it last month, but I’ve been focusing more on side quests lately, which slowed me down a bit. Regardless, I’m still loving it and am excited to see what happens next in the story.

Phill finished Horizon Zero Dawn, one of my absolute favorite games of all time. We’ve been playing our games next to each other at night, so I got to watch him experience all the big story moments and hardest battles. Can’t wait for him to start the next one.
What Have I Been Listening To?
Irish singer Lisa Hannigan has been a favorite of mine for years now. For this month, I wanted to share “Sea Song” from her first album, Sea Sew.
June Events

We have two events this month, Fort Smith Comic Con in Fort Smith, AR June 5-7, and SoonerCon in Norman, OK June 19-21. We’ve never done the Fort Smith event before, so I’m curious to see how it turns out. We attend SoonerCon every year, and I’m excited to spend time with friends while there.
Music Stuff
I didn’t manage to get a song up for May, but I’ll try to get back on track for June.

Language Corner
In this section I like to share words from languages I’m learning. This month I’ve chosen more Irish words.
Patreon, Ko-fi, & Substack
I post once a week on Patreon about all sorts of things: writing, books I’m reading, things going on in life. Once a month I also share sneak peeks of whatever book I’m working on. It would mean the world to me if you considered joining.
I am also on Ko-fi, which is sort of like Patreon, but with one key difference: you’re not locked into a subscription. Ko-fi allows patrons to donate however often they’d like to creators they follow. No subscriptions if you don’t want them, no commitments, and you have control over when and how you donate. At this point my Ko-fi page exists solely to allow one-off donations.
I decided to try Substack, since I’ve seen so many people join it recently. I’m curious to see if I like it, if it’s any better than some of the other platforms out there, or if maybe it will be worthwhile long-term. Time will tell.
